Important Questions to Ask When Considering Laser Hair Removal
1. How long has the provider been in business?
Smooth Solutions was founded in 1997, the first year lasers were approved by the FDA for hair removal, on the simple premise of providing clients effective laser hair removal at an affordable price. Something we still stand by after over 10 years and 500,000 treatments. Since we focus exclusively on Laser Hair Removal, everything we do is designed around getting our clients the results they desire.
2. What type of training do your technicians receive?
Our Medical Director, Dr. Kimberly Finder, a Board Certified Dermatologist, supervises an extensive training process of all of our team members that includes over 200 hours of training before a technician ever completes a laser hair removal treatment on one of our clients. In addition, our team members undergo on-going training and evaluations to maintain technical proficiency.
3. What kind of equipment is used and why does it matter?
Smooth Solutions uses Candela Alexandrite and NdYag lasers, widely believed to be the best hair removal lasers on the market today, as well as Cynosure Alexandrite lasers. Not all lasers are effective. The best technology provides the most effective results with the fewest treatments. A majority of our clients receive their desired results in 5-7 treatments compared to 10-15 with some providers. Since our beginning we have been committed to researching and testing all laser hair removal devices and developing scientific based treatment protocols. While other providers make their decision as to which lasers to use based on research that basically consists of speaking to salespeople, Smooth Solutions has purchased and used every significant type of laser and pulsed light machine available. Our quest to provide the very best hair removal possible has driven us to invest heavily in state of the art equipment. We have owned ruby lasers, diode lasers, microwave devices, intense pulsed light machines, alexandrite lasers and Nd:YAG lasers. Other machines that we haven’t owned, but have done clinical trials on, include a combined Laser Light/ Radio Frequency machine.
4. Is blond, gray or red hair easy to treat?
Blond and gray hair, as well as red hair cannot be effectively treated by any current laser technology. Although some companies make this claim, the consensus at recent medical and scientific conferences maintains there is no possible way to effectively treat blond, white, gray or red hair.
5. Many companies offer a “guarantee” of their results. What do you offer?
Smooth Solutions does not use the word guarantee. It should be understood that LHR takes time and that every client’s body chemistry is different, as is every body site. Most sites require an average of 5 -7 treatments to achieve the desired results. Any treatments beyond six are considered supplemental. These prices are approximately 1/3 of the regular price. If you are not getting results after the average number treatments, we will evaluate the situation and work with you to get results. It is not our goal to benefit from clients that need more than the average number of treatments to achieve results.
